We recognise that, as an employer, we are not as diverse as we want and need to be. Although we have gender
equality in our senior and highly paid roles, when we look at other characteristics we can see we’ve

overcome them, and shared these openly with our employees.
And as an educator, we’re committed to making a difference to every learner.

Building careers
With a huge diversity of roles, locations and work patterns, there are great opportunities for you to develop your career at Kaplan. Starting her journey as a student with Kaplan, our CEO Kathy is a great example of someone who has built their career at Kaplan. But Kathy is not the only one, here are some more stories of career successes at Kaplan.
Stacey's story
Chief Operating Officer
I started my career in Kaplan's Nottingham office as a Tutor. As well as teaching and interacting with our learners, this role also gave me the opportunity to schedule courses and coordinate tutors which I fell in love with, especially seeing how the whole picture fitted together.
I progressed to managing courses and people, then multiples centres and budgets. I eventually moved into supporting entire central functions at Kaplan. My role now is Chief Operating Officer, a role that includes everything from learner applications processing, delivery of both classroom and live online tuition, and wrap-around academic support. I'm also responsible for ensuring that learners are provided with learning materials and receive support from our Talent Coach team.
I've loved my journey at Kaplan, it has allowed me to understand lots of parts of our business and see how it all fits together. Along the way I've had 3 babies and balanced my career with the needs of my family.
The world moves fast so my mantra has been to embrace change and make sure I'm open, adaptable, and at the forefront of it. Kaplan has been a great place for me to put this into practice.

Digvijayee's story
Deputy Head of Service Operations
I joined Kaplan in 2017 as a Student Service Advisor as part of the single teams restructure. One of the first things which became apparent was the variation to queries we handled. I wasn't naive enough to think that I'd be reading from a script but no two questions were the same and it really helped me understand the wider business and how we operate.
The role gave me the opportunity to make a difference to every learner and I learnt so much from being the first point of contact for many of our learners.
My role within Student Services changed over the years and I eventually became a Senior Student Services Manager in 2019. I was still responsible for the day to day performance of the team and ensuring we were still achieving our core KPI's but it also gave me the opportunity to be involved in more strategic conversations with different business areas such as Marketing, Commercial managers and Product.
I moved to Client Service in 2021 as a Service Operations Manager and have really enjoyed helping the team navigate some of the challenges we've faced over the past couple of years. I've had to embrace all things client and even though it was very different to my previous roles, delivering the best service possible was still at the heart of it. I'm now occupying the position of Deputy Head of Service Operations.
Words like 'agile' and 'dynamic' are such buzz words at Kaplan and I feel it's massively appropriate for anyone working in Service Operations. Frameworks, products and processes are constantly changing and I find reacting to change to ensure Clients and Learners have access to the information they need when they need it massively rewarding.

Rob's story
Content Specialist
I began as a Tutor in the Southampton office, specialising in corporate reporting and audit. I really enjoyed the technical challenge of delivering the material, but more than anything the opportunity to teach bright fun learners just starting out in the profession.
I've had many roles over the years - Subject Head for audit, Regional Courses Manager, Tutor Lead, and worked on client teams with our largest accounts. For the last few years I've worked for Kaplan publishing as a Content Specialist responsible for our hard copy and online materials - it's amazing what new skills I've picked-up, but everyday I still apply the lessons I learned as a tutor so that the material is focused on what our learners need to succeed.
There's a real sense of comradeship amongst the teams I've worked with. Kaplan always seems to attract great people and I've always been supported.

Anthony's story
Business Development Manager
I started in 2010, working in our Client and Student Services department at our Leeds centre. I was fortunate enough to be able to support some fantastic students through their various learner journeys, as well helping clients to better understand our programmes and find the best training solutions based on their organisation's objectives.
I developed a real passion for our suite of qualifications and the natural progression from there was to move into Resource Management as a Scheduler for the North East. In this role I programmed our Accountancy and Tax courses for the region, building them from the ground up and coordinating all of our wonderful tutors. This was an enriching time for me at Kaplan and I was very grateful to receive a Kaplan Way Award for my contribution to the business. My role now is Business Development Manager for the North East, showcasing our programmes, which now include Data and IT to our clients, using all the experience I have gained to offer them holistic consultation.
My time at Kaplan has been a time of professional and personal growth and I have loved every minute, meeting some great people along the way who have become lifelong friends.

Nikki's story
Head of Client Solutions and Quality
I originally joined Kaplan as an Assessor (now known as a Talent Coach) for the AAT apprentices in Liverpool. I did not have a background in accountancy but had gained some good experience as an NVQ assessor at Llandrillo College which I adapted quickly based on the more academic study requirements of the AAT.
A couple of years later I became the AAT Course Manager in Liverpool taking on responsibility for the programme delivery and quality. I soon realised that the quality of the education was paramount to the success of our students and as such became really interested in all things Quality and Compliance, I was Ofsted nominee in 2010 a both terrifying and exciting experience which certainly developed me tremendously. This was great grounding for my next role as Head of Quality and Compliance based in our Manchester office. My final triumph was a further promotion to Head of Vocational Infrastructure which saw me take on the operational aspects of apprenticeships in parallel with the quality and compliance role.
After 15 years with Kaplan, I decided that it was time to expand my horizons in the world of Apprenticeships and joined Seetec Outsource, a training provider with a large portfolio of Apprenticeships. This was during the time of the Government reforms which saw the introduction of the apprenticeship levy along with a change in how apprenticeships were assessed.
After five years at Seetec Outsource, I decided I was ready for another challenge. Although I didn't want to entirely change direction I was definitely ready for a fresh start and I automatically thought back to my time at Kaplan. As always, the opportunities to try something different were available and I returned to Kaplan as the Head of Client Solutions and Quality in the Kaplan Assessments business.
The things I love about working at Kaplan are the opportunities to progress and grow with unerring support given by everyone at every level. The fast paced environment and the will to succeed which permeates through to our core. I am very proud to work for an organisation that provides people with diverse backgrounds to achieve their own goals and support the goals of so many others.
