Classroom courses

Providing you with the opportunity to learn and take exams safely is our priority.

We’ve gone to great lengths to be able to offer a small number of socially distanced classes in our training locations for those students who were struggling to study from home.

Yet as daily numbers of positive COVID-19 tests are rising across the UK and lockdown measures are increasing by the day it feels inevitable that in the near future, policy will dictate that we will have no choice but to deliver all our classes online.

To help you prepare for this and to minimise the level of disruption, we have taken the difficult decision to plan a phased withdrawal from running our CIMA classroom courses.

What this means for you

CIMA classroom dates up to Friday 9th October will go ahead in the classroom as scheduled. From and including Saturday 10th October, all CIMA classroom dates for both new and existing courses will be delivered via full day Live Online, with classes capped at 40 students. Students on these courses will be communicated to by email on 6th October.

For the vast majority of courses, we’ve been able to keep the same dates scheduled in the original timetable, but they will now be delivered via Live Online. We’ve needed to make a few date changes to a small number of courses and if this impacts your course, you will be notified in the email on 6th October. You can also see the list of courses impacted on the CIMA course change page.

Auto Refunds

Students enrolled onto a classroom course that has been impacted by the switch over to full day Live Online will be automatically refunded the difference in price. This will be refunded via the original payment method within 28 working days.

Exams

We know that for many students, sitting a Computer Based Exam (CBE) at a location is the only option for them to continue to progress, even with the availability of remote proctoring for CIMA. With that in mind, our training locations will remain open for CBEs and they can continue to be booked via the Kaplan website.

Future courses

We have a wide range of remote learning options available as an alternative to help you continue to study, including Live Online options for:

  • Evenings
  • Afternoons
  • Full day weekday
  • Full day weekend

We also have a full range of award winning OnDemand courses. Please visit our timetable page for further information of what classroom and Live Online courses are available.

If you are a sponsored student please discuss your options with your employer.

Assessment information

CIMA’s exams are available for assessment and students will be able to sit this assessment at home using established Pearson Vue remote testing software for both objective tests and case study assessments. For more information on remote exams please see further down this page.

Kaplan has also re-opened a range of our assessment venues for CIMA exams. If you would like to book an exam please use our online booking tool. Please bear in mind that due to social distancing rules the capacity of our exam suites are reduced.

Alternatively, some Pearson centres are starting to open with socially distanced exams taking place. More information on where these centres are and what this could mean for you can be found on the Pearson Vue websitelaunch.

Case Studies

The exam weeks for November are the same as originally planned:

  • Operational case study exams: 11, 12, 13 November 2020
  • Management case study exams: 18, 19, 20 November 2020
  • Strategic case study exams: 25, 26, 27 November 2020

Please note that results for the August sitting have been delayed by CIMA for 2 weeks and will be released as per: OCS 8th Oct, MCS 15th Oct, SCS 22th Oct.

More information about remote exams

You can book your exam in the usual way through My CIMA launch. This applies to Certificate of Business Accounting, Professional Qualification, and UK Apprenticeships.

Before booking we recommend you test the equipment you plan to take your exams on with a system test launch. You must do a system test before your exams so please check this out as soon as you can, before you schedule.

The exam format will stay the same, but the presentation is very slightly different. Take a look at one of the new practice tests launch (please note: you will need to sign in or create an account and then you can select the free practice test).

CIMA has added more FAQs launch including technical specifications, room requirements, how to test your computer and more.

CIMA will be using Pearson’s OnVUE system for the Objective Tests. For more information watch this short video launch (note: a proctor is the same as an invigilator).
