What is an Internship?

Internships, also referred to as Traineeships, are education and training programmes with work experience that can provide you with the skills and experience that employers are looking for. They last around twelve weeks, with approximately four to six weeks spent in the workplace.

Internships will help you develop skills to get you business-ready. These include CV writing and interview tips as well as working towards industry recognised qualifications. The majority of internships are unpaid, however Kaplan will support you with travel expenses and interview clothing, along with access to bursaries, dependant on eligibility.

The ultimate goal is that you will progress into a permanent position with the employer as an apprentice or use the skills you have developed to apply for other job roles. Some learners choose to use their newly developed skills and qualifications to continue into further education.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for an Internship, you need to be:

Aged between 16-24.

Not in any other form of education or training.

Working less than 16 hours a week.

Qualified below a Level 3 (need to have less than four AS Level's or two A Level's or equivalent).

An EU resident for at least three years.
