Financial Services Apprenticeships

  • Compliance / Risk Officer - Level 3 keyboard_arrow_up keyboard_arrow_down

    Who it’s for

    Existing staff or new talent in roles such as Risk Officer, Compliance Officer, Governance Officer, or Risk Analyst. Their work could include working with the business on specific problems that emerge, analysing data, maintaining records and producing reports, and working on reviews and audits to check that policies are being correctly applied. The Apprenticeship is designed to help the apprentice fully understand the implications of risk and compliance for their team, organisation and industry.

    Qualifications

    • L3 Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship
    • A range of Certificate and Advanced Certificate ICA qualifications to choose from* such as:
      • Certificate in Regulatory Compliance
      • Advanced Certificate in Governance & Regulatory Compliance
      • Advanced Certificate in Managing Fraud
      • Advanced Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering

    Beyond the Apprenticeship

    Apprentices may undertake further study to specialise and enter into more senior roles such as:

  • Senior Financial Services Customer Adviser - Level 3 keyboard_arrow_up keyboard_arrow_down

    Who it’s for

    This Apprenticeship would benefit people working in Banks, Building Societies, Life Insurers and across all areas of Financial Services. It is designed for staff in front line roles who deal with customers and require a high level of technical knowledge and skills across a wide range of products – these may happen in a branch, over the phone, through the internet / social media or an operations centre that supports other areas. They may deal with individuals, businesses or a small portfolio of accounts. The Apprenticeship can be tailored for new starters to the industry or existing employees who are looking to gain new knowledge and broaden their skills.

    Qualification options include

    • Level 3 Senior Financial Services Customer Adviser Apprenticeship
    • Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) Recommended units are IF1, IF3, IF4. Others units are available on request
    • Certificate in Retail and Digital Banking (CertRDB LIBF)
    • Professional Banker Certificate (“PBC”) (CBI)
    • Professional Banker Diploma (including the PBC and optional modules e.g.Certificate in Climate Risk or Green and Sustainable Finance.

    Beyond the Apprenticeship

    Apprentices may undertake further study to specialise and enter into roles such as:

    • Loss adjuster
    • Insurance broker
    • Reinsurance and account manager
    • Financial services administrator
    • Mortgage administrator

  • Senior Compliance/Risk Specialist - Level 6 keyboard_arrow_up keyboard_arrow_down

    Who it’s for

    This specialist programme, the Senior Risk / Compliance Specialist Level 6 Apprenticeship, is designed for those working in a senior risk / compliance role. It may cover compliance or risk functions or be a blend of both depending on the organisation. Broadly speaking, those undertaking this Apprenticeship should choose a specialist area in Risk, Financial Crime or Compliance.

    Within this role they’ll be providing high quality input and advice to the business in their specialist area(s) of expertise e.g. risk, financial crime, compliance, modelling/analysing data. This is likely to include working with senior managers to deal with complex problems and implementing new legal or regulatory requirements. This is a senior role and those undertaking this Apprenticeship are expected to have exposure and influence with other senior figures in their organisation.

    All apprentices gain the Level 6 Senior Compliance/Risk Specialist Apprenticeship Certificate

    Technical qualifications include

    • Range of ICA Diplomas available to choose from* such as:
      • Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance
      • Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention
      • Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering

    Beyond the Apprenticeship

    Apprentices may take on roles such as:

    • Senior Compliance Officer

    Who it’s for

    The Financial Services Professional Apprenticeship may be suitable for individuals who are new to the financial sector, or for those with varying levels of existing experience in the field who are progressing their career. This Apprenticeship standard is specifically for those in an FCA regulated environment.

    Individuals can specialise in a number of areas including Retail Banking, Commercial / Business or Investment Banking, Investment Management / Operations or Workplace Pensions. This Apprenticeship provides individuals with the skills and the technical knowledge to hold a high level of responsibility within their area of the business. This programme requires individuals to lead on at least one significant work-based project that improves performance within the organisation.

    All apprentices gain the Level 6 Financial Services Professional Apprenticeship Certificate.

    Qualification options include

    • Advanced Diploma in Banking & Leadership in a Digital Age from the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI)*
    • Chartered Associate Programme from the London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF)*
    • Diploma in Treasury Management from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT)*

    *We can also discuss with you building foundation knowledge for those new to the role before taking their Diploma. Note that this would be outside the levy.

    Beyond the Apprenticeship

    Apprentices may continue to study and specialise, or mentor others entering into the profession. They may also take on Senior Management roles in

    • Commercial / Business Banking
    • Investment Management
    • Workplace Pensions
    • Operations
