Coronavirus updates from Institutes

The Institutes have issued guidance regarding the running of exams which have been summarised for you. We've outlined how Kaplan are responding to the changes to help keep students in learning.

Find out more:

AAT

Institute status:
Suspension of all AAT assessments from midnight Sunday 22nd March 2020 UK time and they have voided any assessment that has already been scheduled for a date after 22nd March 2020. They have also pledged to revisit their published schedule for synoptic windows in response to the situation as it evolves further.

EPA is not possible without AAT synoptic exams, although AAT are now allowing professional discussions to be conducted from home.

Our courses and support:
We are looking into the impact on study pathways and will be converting classroom pathways into Live Online courses. The new pathways will likely be extended to a future synoptic window, we will provide details when they are available.

ACA (ICAEW)

Institute status:
The ICAEW have cancelled the June sitting for Professional Level with the expectation that the September sitting will continue as planned.

The July Advanced Level exams will be moving to the end of August (dates to be confirmed by the ICAEW).

For Certificate exams, Pearson VUE centres in the UK have closed as of 20th March for the foreseeable future, and as a result, the ICAEW are investigating alternative ways in which candidates can sit the exams remotely.

The CFAB June EPA sitting has been cancelled. ICAEW will instead offer a September sitting.

Level 7 Apprenticeship completion/End Point Assessments are reliant on the case study exam however this is currently now only 1 month later than originally planned.

Our courses and support:

ACA Certificate

We will continue to deliver ACA Certificate courses via Live Online. We also have flexible online options available for all Certificate subjects.

Our CFAB June EPA course has been cancelled and will be rescheduled in accordance with the revised sitting.

ACA June Professional Stage

Application - We will continue to deliver the Application phase of our June courses via Live Online and we recommend that all students continue to attend this phase of the course.

Exam Preparation (EP) - In order to provide students and clients with added flexibility we will be offering the choice between attending:

  • Our original June EP block dates(we will refer to this as “complete plus booster”)
  • Revised EP dates which align with the September sitting (we will refer to this as “deferred revision plus booster”)

At this stage, we are planning that EP dates will continue to be offered via Live Online in both cases but we will continue to review the opportunity to offer classroom EP courses.

Free additional booster courses - We will be providing booster content to ensure that students maintain their study impetus during the following periods:

  • Students attending the original June EP course and not sitting their real exam until September
  • Students attending Application now and not attending their EP course until August

Booster course content will comprise:

  • A modular study programme that clearly outlines resources available, time commitment and approach. The programme and content is designed to be as flexible as possible so that students can study as and when needed.
  • Recorded, tutor led question walkthroughs of exam standard questions coupled with a programme of correlated question practice.
  • Pre revision mock exam with self marking guide so that students can diagnose their weaker areas.
  • Recorded pre revision mock debrief broken down by question. Students can use the debrief to zero in on the questions and topics that they found most difficult in order to improve knowledge and exam technique.
  • Fortnightly live online drop in sessions focusing on key syllabus topics which will be clearly linked to the modular study programme.
  • Interactive MyKaplan activity feed where we will we share relevant updates and additional course content.

You do not need to do anything as all impacted students will be automatically enrolled onto our Booster courses. We anticipate that our Booster course content will go live in June.

We will offer our ACA September Professional courses via Live Online and will continue to review the opportunity to bring those courses back into the classroom.

ACA Advanced July
