Advanced Learner Loans are available for students aged 19+ who want to study the AAT qualification in England. Advanced learner loans give you access to financial support for tuition costs similar to that available in higher education for students studying at University, and are provided by Student Finance England.
They are not means tested or subject to credit checks and if you meet the criteria, you can apply for a loan regardless of your current employment status, so this is a great way to fund your studies during a career change or career break.
What courses can I use the Advanced Learner Loan for?
You can use the Advanced Learner Loan to fully fund or partially fund the following Kaplan AAT courses:
- AQ2016 Advanced Diploma - via Classroom, Live Online or Distance Learning Premier Plus
- AQ2016 Professional Diploma - via Classroom, Live Online or Distance Learning Premier Plus
- AQ2016 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping (Short Qualification)
The Advanced Learner Loan is available up to the value of £2,573 per level for the AAT Diploma and £1,265 for the Certificate in Bookkeeping. It can also be used to cover the cost of the exam entry fees alongside the course. Any balance left on courses over this value can be paid for using a Kaplan interest free payment plan, and you can also use an interest free payment plan to cover the Foundation Certificate, so there is nothing for you to pay upfront if you wish to study the AAT Qualification with Kaplan.
When do I pay the Advanced Learner Loan back?
You’ll have to pay your loan back when both the following apply:
- you’ve finished your course
- you earn more than £21,000 a year
Repayments start the April following the completion of your course, and your annual repayment amount will be 9% of any income you earn over £21,000.
