Taking your first step into the UK Investment Profession with IMC

A student on a laptop

The IMC qualification is the ideal entry point for those wanting to start a career in the high-flying world of Finance. So what do our IMC courses entail and why is it the beginning of a great career path?

So you may have just left school/college with huge ambitions, or might be looking to move into an exciting and well paid sector. If that’s the case, look no further…

IMC might be for you

The IMC course is an introductory certificate, and offers the fundamentals when it comes to investment management and chartered finance. It’s a great introduction to the more advanced CFA qualification and is ideal for those new to the industry.

It provides an excellent foundation into the core areas of: portfolio management, research analysis, front office investment, relationship management and risk management. These are some of the core activities that underpin the investment profession.

There are no entry requirements needed to study IMC, but ideally candidates will have 5 GCSEs A* to C or Grade 4 and above. If it's been a while since you studied Maths, we recommend you take the one day core skills online course.

The qualification is made up of two units: Unit 1 (Investment Environment) and Unit 2 (Investment Practice). You will need to have passed both units to be awarded the qualification.

Why study with Kaplan?

As someone who is new to this profession, you couldn’t ask for a better provider. Kaplan has decades of teaching experience and vast resources, meaning we can give you that extra level of support to help you pass your exams.

For instance, we have a range of study method options. You might prefer being in a face-to-face classroom, or studying remotely (distance learning), at a pace and time that fits around your personal life. Or you might be comfortable working in a way that is a hybrid of both (distance learning with recorded classes).

Whichever study method you choose, you'll benefit from highly experienced tutors, practical learning methods and ongoing support, right up until your exam. And if you already have the CFA UK Official Training Manual, this can be discounted from your package price.

“It gives you the face-to-face experience and structure of a live classroom tutor, with the flexibility to attend from any location. A modern delivery style to compliment a modern working world.”
