CII advice for Coronavirus

Below is the latest and most up to date information from the Institute, regarding exams and assessments.

This advice is specifically relevant for our apprentices on: Level 3 Insurance Practitioner, Level 4 Insurance Professional, Level 3 Mortgage Adviser, and Level 4 Financial Adviser.

Institute update

The CII have announced that all centres will remain closed in June. They are starting to take some July bookings but there is as yet no certainty that centres will be open in July, so these will be by remote invigilation.

Written exams, by remote invigilation, will take place in July for:

  • R06 Financial planning practice
  • AF1 Personal tax & trust planning
  • AF5 Financial planning process
  • AF7 Pension transfers

MCQ exams, by remote invigilation, will take place in mid-July for:

  • R01 Financial Services, Regulations and Ethics
  • R02 Investment Principles and Risk
  • R03 Personal Taxation
  • R04 Pensions and Retirement Planning
  • R05 Financial Protection

All MCQ exams are expected to be available from September. The CII has not yet released specific dates.

There is an extensive FAQ section regarding exams on the CII website, which learners should check for updates.

To book an exam, learners have to call the CII. The CII phone number is 0208 989 8464 from which you can reach their contact centre support who can book exams for you and provide any up to date advice.

Make sure you test the link to check that remote invigilation is compatible with your laptop/ computer well in advance of your exam.

End Point Assessments

I was due to sit my End Point Assessment (EPA) in the next few months, what do the exam cancellations mean for my Apprenticeship?

Most of the End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) are taking a pragmatic and supportive approach. If your Gateway Review is put back, the EPAO can look to extend the period of time for EPA. Please discuss this with your Talent Coach.

There are two very good charities who have out of hours support: NSPCC for concerns about young people 0808 800 5000 or the Samaritans 116123.
