Eligibility

Anyone can complete this apprenticeship, regardless of age or previous qualifications. Kaplan will confirm that the role is suitable as part of the application process.

Applicants must:

Be employed in England.
Work in a relevant job role.
Learn new knowledge and skills through the programme.

Typically, apprentices will have one of the following:

A GCSE or another Level 2 qualification.
12 months' work experience within the last 24 months if they don't already hold a Level 3 qualification.

Functional skills

Employers may also require apprentices to have a grade 4/C (or equivalent) in GCSE maths and English. If an apprentice doesn't already have these qualifications, Kaplan provides free resources and support to help them achieve the required standard by the end of the apprenticeship.

Months 1-3

Foundations of Business Analysis

With a focus on embracing AI driven insights, months one to three develop a solid grounding in core analytical principles resulting in the Foundations Certificate in Business Analysis.

Awareness of AI tools for data gathering, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making.
Techniques for investigation and analysis (interviews, workshops, prototyping, scenarios).
Stakeholder engagement and management.
Business case fundamentals.
Requirements basics (documenting, managing, validating).

Months 3-6

Process and AI Integration

Earn the Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes, focusing on transforming workflows with process intelligence.

Process modelling, analysis, and optimisation.
Documenting tasks and evaluating/improving processes.
Understanding AI-driven process mining and predictive analytics.

Months 6-9

Advanced Requirements and Strategic AI

Achieve the BCS Practitioner Certificate in Requirements Engineering with a focus on designing AI ready solutions. Also, complete the Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice, centered on driving AI first transformations. Emphasising strategic analysis to support AI-integrated business change.

Eliciting, capturing, prioritising, validating, documenting, analysing, and managing requirements.
Understanding AI-ready requirements (data quality, ethics, feedback loops).
Identifying AI opportunities and building business cases.
Championing data-powered solutions and managing change.
Strategic context and stakeholder analysis.
Solution identification through business activity analysis and modelling.

Months 9-12

Agile Principles

Gain a solid foundation in Agile, learning how its values and practices can be applied effectively in real-world projects.

Key skills:

Understanding Agile history, manifesto, principles, and practical application.
Applying Agile frameworks to AI initiatives (sprint planning, continuous improvement).
Collaboration within Agile teams.

Months 12-15

EPA Preparation

Apply core BA techniques to a real-world business challenge, demonstrating end-to-end analysis, stakeholder engagement, and solution development within a defined organisational context.

Key skills:

Applying end-to-end BA skills in an AI-focused business transformation project.
Consolidating knowledge and skills for EPA, including portfolio submission (Gateway Month 16).
Demonstrating holistic competence as a Business Analyst with AI understanding in an Agile context.
