Entry requirements
This qualification is suitable for anyone advising, working, or aspiring to work, in the securities and/or derivatives industry. No previous qualifications are required.
If you’re studying in the UK, Ireland, Europe or North America, you need to pass the CISI's IntegrityMatters test before sitting the Capital Markets Programme exams. This is an online ethics test which requires you to make ethical decisions around dilemmas that you might encounter in the workplace.
Syllabus
This qualification examines the UK financial regulations in detail, then offers you the choice of expanding your knowledge about Securities or Derivatives.
You must take this Regulatory Unit. Then choose one Technical Unit.

The exams are based on published syllabi, which are reviewed annually to reflect changes in the industry and the regulatory environment.
All exams are delivered by computer based testing (CBT) on demand and can be sat globally. You'll need to register with the CISI directly for exam entry.
Exam results are available after you have taken your exam and can be seen online within 24 hours.
How long does it take to pass?
The CISI recommends a minimum of 80-100 hours of study for the regulatory unit and 100 hours for each of the technical units.
Are there any exemptions available?
You may be eligible for an exemption from one or more of the exams depending on your prior qualifications. Please see the CISI website for further details.
