Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3

Building on our Accounts / Finance Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship, this Level 3 programme builds on the foundations for your entry level talent to support growth within your Accountancy and Finance function.

Employees on this apprenticeship will ensure your Accountancy and Finance practice performs in the most effective way. It includes the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and provides the opportunity for them to support the business with essential skills and behaviours to drive results.

Developed in partnership with globally recognised institutes and employers and firms of all sizes, a Kaplan Accountancy apprenticeship is anything but standard.

Ideal for new and aspiring accountants, this apprenticeship helps learners progress to the next stage in their career when they have limited experience to date.

This apprenticeship will benefit individuals already working at a junior role within an Accountancy department of finance function, or Kaplan can also support you with sourcing new talent. People studying this apprenticeship will typically be employed in roles such as an Assistant Accountant, Trainee Accounting Technician, Accounts Clerk, Cashier Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger Clerk or Sales Ledger Clerk.

An apprentice’s journey doesn’t end when their apprenticeship has finished. The next steps could be to progress onto our Professional Accounting Taxation Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship, or even our Accountancy and Taxation Level 7 Apprenticeship which would enable them to become fully qualified Accountants.

To do this apprenticeship, employers may specify that candidates have at least a grade of 5 GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English. If apprentices don’t have this level of Maths and English, Kaplan offers free resources and support to make sure they have a strong understanding of the subjects by the end of the apprenticeship.

Before starting this apprenticeship, learners must have also passed a two day Bookkeeping course with assessment to ensure they are beginning at a suitable level. This is free for apprentices.

Training modules

Our Assistant Accountant apprenticeship programme integrates four modules of technical training with work based projects. This ensures that learning and skills are directly applied to the apprentice’s role, and maximises the time used as part of off-the-job training.

For each module, learners benefit from a choice of different study methods taught by subject matter specialists, combined with additional online learning that can be completed at their own pace. Each of our classes are interactive and involve lots of practical discussion, giving learners quality time both with tutors and industry peers to spark new ideas and get new perspectives.
