Accountancy in a nutshell

An accountant is a professional or qualified person who generally performs tasks related to accounting, such as auditing or analysing financial statements. They might also do bookkeeping, or prepare annual reports and financial statements for businesses. Accountants can be employed within an accounting firm or can set up on their own.
