1. Structure and syllabus
Structure
ACCA redesigned the Professional level to create the Strategic Professional level which consists of six subjects from Essentials and Options. You will sit four of these exams to complete this level.
ACCA advise that you attempt their Ethics and Professional Skills module before you sit any exams on Strategic Professional. ACCA say that students who do so are statistically proven to increase their chances of passing the exams.
If you are considering studying AAA as one of your options subjects, please be aware that we strongly recommend that you attempt this after or at the same time as studying SBR.
You should also be aware with all subjects at this level there will be a certain amount of assumed knowledge from earlier subjects at Applied Skills level, so if you were exempt or sat these some time ago, you should use the resources and advice in the beginning and throughout your course to refresh your understanding.
Pass Guarantee availablekeyboard_arrow_down
We want you to pass your exams and succeed in the next steps of your career. If you don’t get the results you were expecting and have enrolled on an eligible course, you can take advantage of our Pass Guarantee. Get extended course access, tutor support, a new mock exam, and guidance for FREE until you pass your exam.
For more information, view out our dedicated Pass Guarantee page.
Entry requirements
You should have completed the previous two ACCA levels; Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills, or have been awarded exemptions from Applied Knowledge

You should check whether you're eligible on the ACCA website and apply for any exemptions before you start studying.
Syllabus

The two Essentials subjects are mandatory - these are SBR and SBL. You can select two out of four subjects from Options, which include AFM, APM, ATX and AAA.

Ethics and Professional Skills
This module is compulsory for ACCA members and will help you develop a good understanding of ethics. You’ll be exposed to real-life situations to develop the appropriate ethical and professional skills. ACCA recommend you pass this before studying any other subjects in this level. As you take the module externally with ACCA, please visit their Ethics and Professional Skills page for more details.

Every module and topic has been through a detailed learning design process, which means we've considered how to best explain each area and cement your understanding of the subject. This includes a variety of concise learning formats such as bite-sized tutor-led lectures, and activities to help link topics together. Every module is scripted and links on screen animations with graphics found within your integrated workbook. This provides a high quality online learning experience, which is so much more than a live recorded tutor session or even a tutor narrating highlighted text book visuals.
In addition to academic support, our team of Progression Advisors offer advice, guidance and support, on how to best learn and progress through your course. They use data to identify if you need extra support and will help you get back on track if you need it.
OnDemand is a complete course, which includes tuition, application, revision and exam preparation, and comes with a Pass Guarantee. If you are unsuccessful, you will receive an extension of tutor support, guidance on how to direct your efforts for your resit with access to additional online content and a new mock exam marked for FREE.

Pre-exam workshop
Prepare for exam day with an extra online mock of practice questions totalling more than the 100 marks you will see in the real exam. This should be taken under exam conditions and you will use software to produce your answers in a format as close to the real exam as you can get. You will then upload your answers for marking on a scheduled date before the live session, during which your tutor is on hand to help with any last minute queries and will deliver personalised feedback and tips for your class based on your performance. 3. Exams and sittings
Timings and working towards a sitting
There are four exam sessions per year. You can sit a maximum of four exams at each session, and a maximum of eight distinct exams each calendar year.
Exams for Strategic Professional subjects are computer-based and should be booked with ACCA directly.
Book an exam directly with ACCA
How long does it take to pass?
Most students will typically take 12 to 18 months to complete this level.
You’ll also need three years practical experience before you can become an ACCA member and be considered a qualified accountant, meaning the complete ACCA qualification takes a minimum of three years to complete. You can complete your work experience before, after, or during your ACCA exams.
Subject order rules
ACCA allow “free progression” at the Strategic Professional level, meaning you can choose to sit your Essentials and Options subjects in any order. If you are studying ACCA under a Level 7 Apprenticeship you must sit Strategic Business Leader last, as it is your End Point Assessment.
Study recommendation
ACCA advise that you attempt their Ethics and Professional Skills module before you sit any exams on Strategic Professional. They say students who do so are statistically proven to significantly enhance their chances of passing the exams. SBL contains a vast amount of these skills so it is especially important for you to complete the module before sitting this exam.
If you are considering studying AAA as one of your options subjects, please be aware that we strongly recommend that you attempt this after or at the same time as studying SBR.
You should also be aware with all subjects at this level there will be a certain amount of assumed knowledge from earlier subjects at Applied Skills level, so if you were exempt or sat these some time ago, you should use the resources and advice in the beginning of your course to refresh your understanding.

Buy ACCA bookslaunch
Delivery costs
How much it costs to deliver your study materials and how long it takes depends on where in the world you live.
Delivery fees are as follows:
- UK and NI - £7 for the first package, £7 for subsequent packages
- EU - £35 for the first package, £30 for subsequent packages
- Rest of the World - £50 for the first package, £50 for subsequent packages
Please note that due to varying interpretations of the post-Brexit EU/UK trading agreement, some EU countries are imposing import duty on the value of the goods received from the UK. It is payable by the end consumer via the delivery company and your delivery may be withheld until paid. This may vary from country to country and be up to a value of 20% of the value of the study material.
A package relates to all the materials for a specific subject, for example ACCA Advanced Taxation (ATX-UK). If purchasing a course for more than one subject, the additional package charges will apply.
For Live Online or Classroom students purchasing a separate tuition and revision course for the same subject in the same transaction, the relevant cost above will be split across the two packages e.g. £3.50 for tuition and £3.50 for revision for UK delivery.
Delivery fees are capped at 3 x the cost, per single order. So, if you buy 5 courses for UK delivery in a single order, it will be £7 x 3, rather than £7 x 5.
Our standard delivery times for Live Online, OnDemand, Online and Distance Learning are:
- UK – 3 to 5 working days
- EU – 5 to 7 working days
- Rest of the World – 7 to 10 working days subject to availability.
Our standard delivery deadline for UK classroom courses is one week prior to the first course date.
Delivery charges apply to all Classroom, Distance Learning, OnDemand, Online and Live Online courses which include printed materials. If delivery charges are applicable for your course, they will be shown during the online checkout process, before you complete your payment details.
