PwC and Kaplan have come together to develop the data analyst skills of the workforce. Our partnership with PwC will help to enhance the digital transformation of the PwC organisation, while training their current employees to get ahead of the skills crisis.

The work with Kaplan is one of many initiatives by PwC to increase data skills and invest in employees' skills to meet the needs of the business.

The skills crisis

Taking a look at the issues that employers are facing today, we find that there are currently over 35,000 data scientist jobs being advertised on LinkedIn. And yet, the government estimates that only 10,000 new data scientists will graduate from university each year. In short - there are not enough skilled professionals to fill this increasing demand. At Kaplan, we are looking to fill these skills gap by providing tailored in-house training programmes, alongside the apprenticeship offering.

Chiraag Swaly, Head of Apprenticeship Design at Kaplan UK, adds:

“As digital and data skills become increasingly harder to find, initiatives like the PWC Data Analyst course show how a collaborative approach can deliver the specific skills employees need.

Data Analysis is one of the most challenging areas to recruit for and it requires a mix of various complex technical skills and a specific attitude towards working with data. Kaplan works together with employers to understand what their specific needs are and designs a learning experience that helps build these skills through experiential, engaging and practical hands-on learning which helps build a strong foundational understanding that they can be confident to apply in the workplace. This allows new starters in the business to hit the ground running and contribute quickly towards business goals, projects and initiatives.”

In-house training

Through the Kaplan and PwC partnership, a data analyst course has been offered to PwC’s Digital Audit Advanced Analytics team. The two-week in-person course covers topics such as data analysis and statistics and data visualisation using highly rated tools and software such as Power BI and Python with an exploration of Data Science tools and concepts. As a result, this will support PwC’s employees to produce regular reports and analysis for different management and leadership teams.

The employers at PwC will not need to worry about taking existing, skilled workers off the job, as expert tutors will be delivering the tailored training to their learners. After the two weeks training, learners are provided access to the self-learning tools at Kaplan, to ensure they are kept up to date with technological developments to further enhance relevant skills.
