Give and Gain Day 2016

At Kaplan, getting involved and giving back to the community is something we believe strongly in and we are committed to creating a culture that encourages our employees to share their skills, expertise and resources to enrich the local communities in which they live and work.

Our volunteering policy entitles every employee to two volunteer days per year, during work hours, to support a local cause close to their heart. Activities range from practical projects such as local decorating or gardening initiatives, companionship activities and skills based projects including teaching, CV and interview skills and bookkeeping for charities.

Here are just a few examples of the charities across the country we have supported:

We have participated in Give & Gain, the only global day of employee volunteering, for a number of years which is always enjoyable and very worthwhile so the first of our two volunteer days is always taken care of.

Programme Leader

I helped a children's charity called Wood Street Mission by sorting through clothes, toys and books which are then passed on to the families they support through their community shop.

I am a volunteer lifeboat crew for Calshot Royal National Lifeboat Institution. I used my time off to attend a Crew Training course including sea survival. As well as doing this I also am on call every weekend and every night, in one of the busiest stations in the country.

Matthew Rawlins
Client Director

I am a leader for cub Scouts and regularly use my volunteering time when I take my cubs to camp. This year cubs have been in existence for 100 years so we are taking over the entire local campsite with cubs from surrounding areas and will be camping for three days.

AAT Assessor

Five of the marketing team went to Dove Stone Reservoir to work with the RSPB taking out old iron fences and then building a wooden dam out of logs to encourage wildlife. It's the second time we have been here and we recently found out that our previous work had helped them win awards.
