Apprenticeship Units

The AI units are set at Level 5 in academic standards (equivalent to second year of a degree in standard). Each unit has 30 hours of learning in person or online with a brief assessment at the end. They are:

• AI Leadership: AI strategy and opportunity: for employees at an early or exploratory stage of AI adoption, who need to build a foundational understanding and identify viable opportunities.
• AI Leadership: AI adoption, procurement and governance: for employees involved in evaluating options, developing business cases, and establishing governance and assurance approaches for AI and digital technologies.
• AI Leadership: AI delivery and organisational transformation: for employees overseeing implementation of AI and ensuring that AI solutions are integrated effectively into organisational processes and ways of working.

How are the AI units funded?

Each AI unit has an allocated funding band of £750 which can be used from an employer’s levy account or for non-levy payers, the Government is currently fully funding the AI units for eligible employees (over 19 and who have not already substantially covered the skills and knowledge)

How do relevant employees get started?

Kaplan is approved to deliver the three AI units. These will be available from the summer of 2026.
