Starting in a new position can be nerve wracking for anyone, so being prepared before your first day will take some of this stress away.
Find out the dress code and wear something you feel comfortable in. If no dress code is provided, smart business attire is always a safe option.
You may even want to practise this prior to starting. Ensure you arrive on time or early if possible to meet your team.
You will meet a lot of new people at the start of your apprenticeship. You are not expected to take everything in but try to take mental notes of the people you will be working closely with, this will help in the first few days.
There is a lot of information to take in so it may be worthwhile taking notes throughout this time, as not everything will stick. Please remember, there is no harm in asking for help or for a refresher.
Most employers will require you to bring in a form of identification on your first day. Make sure you have checked which type is required.
We recommend that you take lunch and snacks the first few days to get accustomed to the location, and ensure you have enough food and water throughout the day.
