Introducing our new ACCA Finance Analyst apprenticeship

Two people shaking hands over a meeting room table

We are proud to announce the launch of our brand new, exclusive Level 3 Finance Analyst apprenticeship in partnership with ACCA.

Accounting is changing and now involves much more data from various sources. Therefore, the skills and entry-level trainee accountant needs are also changing. Our new Level 3 ACCA Finance Analyst apprenticeship programme will ensure that new talent in the workplace will have the skills and knowledge required to succeed in a modern accounting role.

What does this mean?

Unique programme offering

This programme is the first of its kind that combines essential data skills with core accountancy knowledge. It is specifically tailored for those working in finance functions but not necessarily just in accounting roles.

Practical application

Apprentices can apply their learning directly to the workplace - unlocking the potential of business data while developing their skills using core technologies and platforms.

Diverse career opportunities

The apprenticeship training is suitable for various roles, including but not limited to Accounts Assistant, Trainee Accountant, Finance Data Support, and much more.

Not only this, but further pathways will become available upon completion of the apprenticeship. Professionals may choose to specialise in data analysis or advanced accounting roles.

Support

We will provide resources and support for both apprentices and employers during the training. We can help you find a suitable candidate to fit your workplace’s needs and support apprentices with meeting the specific requirements.

The training will feature a combination of live online classes, self-paced learning and practical lab sessions. Apprentices receive support through regular one-to-one contact, progress reviews and a dedicated Talent Coach who helps to ensure everything is on track and running smoothly throughout their journey.

How does this benefit the employer?

Upskilling via an apprenticeship will equip your team with future-facing skills for better decision-making and business transformation. This significantly improves efficiency in the workplace, but the investment in your team’s career and skills has also been linked to better retention and job satisfaction.

What will the apprentices learn?

The modules cover essential areas such as data analysis, visualisation, databases, data literacy, and practical data projects. There is also an emphasis on strengthening transferable skills that can be used for life, such as communication, time management, teamwork and personal impact skills.

Aside from the core training, optional certificates are available in Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate as well as the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business.

Who is this for?

If you’re an employer with new or existing talent who is looking for an alternative to traditional routes into accountancy, this new programme will be perfect for you.

Your workforce can maximise the benefit of the time used as part of the off-the-job training, and develop their technical capacity as well as gain sector-relevant skills that will be directly applied to their job role.

Eligibility

Regardless of age or prior experience, anyone can do an apprenticeship provided they’re learning new skills and are employed in England in a relevant role. At Kaplan, we will support employers in assessing the job role suitability as part of the application.

To do this apprenticeship, many employers specify that candidates must have at least a grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in maths and English. If apprentices do not have this grade, we offer free resources and support at Kaplan to ensure they develop their understanding and application of the subjects by the end of the apprenticeship.

A lot of apprentices typically have one of the following:

  • GCSE or other Level 2 qualifications
  • 12 months of work experience in the last 24 months

What do the experts say?

Rob Alder, Head of Apprenticeships and Relationships, ACCA spoke about the new apprenticeship programme:

“Accountants increasingly need to understand and utilise technology to make informed business decisions, and that’s why data analytical skills are so important.

Through this collaboration with Kaplan, employers can use ACCA’s Foundation level units to gain strong technical accounting knowledge within the Finance Analyst apprenticeship, which will enable them to progress onto becoming an accountant with strong data skills and develop a career as a data analyst with a strong underpinning knowledge of business that an ACCA qualification with offer them.

Learners who choose this additional accounting route will benefit from Kaplan’s expertise in developing OnDemand courses for ACCA’s qualifications which have, for many years, led the way in online learning.”

Matt Rawlins, Director of Sales and Account Management, Kaplan Professional UK, said:

“We’re delighted to announce an innovative new pathway for individuals looking to progress their careers in accountancy. Our new partnership with the ACCA focuses on all the essential skills required for today’s modern accountant.

Mastering data is crucial in the current landscape, and we are excited to collaborate with the ACCA to launch this groundbreaking initiative.”
